JPG started as a Flickr group, so the aesthetic has a lot in common with what you see as &quot;Interesting&quot; photos there. I think a lot of it has to do with the semi-competitive structure driving. The photos were chosen by the JPG community, so its a consensus-driven, middle of the road style. I&#039;d guess a lot of the pictures were taken to impress the other members rather than having any sort of internal integrity. There&#039;s a generic, stock photography sense in many of the pictures, even if most are technically quite competent. Not terribly different from your typical camera club, probably, save the scale.</description>
